Two high profile Minnesota athletes traveled to Clermont Florida this past weekend to participate in the draft legal race event at Lake Louisa hosted by Olympian Jarrod Shoemaker. Patrick Parish, 2010 US Sprint National Champion, and Kate Lowrey, 2010 US Youth National Points Champion, chose to take on the early season challenge, each with specific goals and objectives in mind.

Patrick participated in his first draft legal triathlon. His race was an open class, 75 person field of mainly division 1 collegiate swimmers and runners who had been recruited by Olympian Barb Lindquist to try triathlon. The objective was to try the draft legal format and also gun for the...

Ironman Arizona Coverage -

Due to immensely frustrating site problems we we unable to post pictures and much of the content. We'll update on Tuesday.

4:00 PM - It's a 9:04:49 debut for Palmer! Devon finished 17th overall. Congrats Devon on turning in the all-time fastest rookie IM effort by a Minnesotan! Very, very cool!

3:39 PM - Hey, where's Devon? We'll try to find him and get back to you.

3:30 PM - Chrissie's 11th IM win here today took the "Official," i.e. M-dot, world record down from 8:47:26 (Sandra Wallenhorst at Ironman Austria in 2008) to 8:36:13. T'was Wellington's fifth sub-9 and lowered Arizona's women's CR by 33:06. Chrissie finished 8th overall on this damp Sonoran day.

3:00 PM - Germany's Timo Bracht has just rewritten the men's CR at Ironman Arizona. His sizzling 8:07:16 dispassionately gouged more than six minutes out of Jordan Rapp's prior race best. Bracht placed 6th at Kona last month.

2:23 PM - Two Minnesotans are in the amateur women's Top 10 after the first two legs. Jenny Wilcox is in 8th place; Julie Hull is in 2nd just 4 SECONDS behind amateur leader Karleen Dirmantas of Phoenix. Only eight pros are currently ahead of Hull and Dirmantas. How cool is that! Wilcox, a strong runner, was 10 minutes behind Hull when she got off the bike. Both Minnesota girls are on PR pace. Julie's prior best in 10:32:12, set at Ironman Florida in 2008. Jenny's PB is an 11:12 (Wisconsin '09).
