How to Date a Triathlete...

heart.gifIn honor of Valentine’s Day, Triathlon.Competitor.com look back on a popular archive from author Lauren Harsch: A simple, four-step guide on how to date, and maybe one day marry, a triathlete.

I dated and then married a top amateur Ironman triathlete. I feel like anyone who has deserves a medal or trophy—we are a strong group of independent people. Here are a few rules I’ve learned along the way that might benefit anyone married to multisport by affiliation and not necessarily personal choice.

A Note From CY & Results Links...

cy-and-patti.gifED. We heard from Cathy Yndestad recently. She filled us in on what she's doing this winter and some of her tentative plans--racing and coaching--for the 2014 multi season. Photo - CY and her "Norsk mann," KY.

Hi MTN Guys,

How are you? Hope you're making the best of this frigid winter.  I made the mistake of staying here in MN to ski, but it's been too cold (for me) to enjoy that. Totally Cool Stuff...

Los_cabos_arch.gifHere's some cool news:

- 2013 USAT HONOREES - The US Tri, Du and Off Road AOYs and HMs have been determined and will be announced very soon on usatriathlon.org. We know who the honorees are but have been asked to keep quiet until the news posts on the federation website. Of course, this makes us crazy. We will say that we're happy about MOST of the final selections. Stayed tuned.

- MEXICAN VACATION - Several Minnesotans will be racing Ironman Los Cabos on March 30. The town is at the tip of the Baja Peninsula and the area is known for sport fishing, whale watching--whales can't be trusted..

HOLT artist hanging at The Bell

HOLT-posterDid we say that right? We're not real sophisticated about artsy-fartsy stuff around here, but we know one thing beyond a doubt: Jim Rataczak's extraordinary art has indelibly branded Heart of the Lakes as the quintessential Minnesota triathlon. A bird specialist, Jim has created an original painting for the race every year since 1998. "Jim is exquisitely humble for such an extraordinarily talented artist. We know that athletes look forward every year to seeing what new art Jim has created for our race," says HOLT Director Jeff Holmberg. For many, their collection of "bird shirts" from HOLT is as much a gallery as a memento...
