Big Time "Horse Guy"...

Bob-on-cover.gifED. Here is a really cool article about Minnesota's believed ninety-genarian triathlete Bob Powers. In case you didn't know, he is a big time horse guy.

 

 

As a founding member of the Minnesota Hunter and Jumper Association, horses have always been an integral part of Bob Power's Life. His parents, Robert and Norah, immigrated from Ireland with Bob's brother, Tom, arriving at Ellis Island in 1923, the year before Bob was born. Bob's father was a renowned thoroughbred horse trainer in Ireland and came to America in search of a better life, eventually settling in Hopkins, Minnesota....

We’ve heard the story too many times – the kid who gets cut from a team never tries out again, or worse, shies away from physical activities altogether.

How about writing a different ending to that story – one that is actually a beginning? Tony Schiller did. He was cut from seven different teams as a kid only to become a six-time world champion amateur triathlete and a finalist for USA Triathlon’s Triathlete of the Year award....

MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - The way TEAM MINNESOTA is determined is this: After the Committee argues for several days and grows to hate each other, each member ranks their Top 15 men and women. Points are assigned to places and the athletes are ranked from fewest points to most points.
