Race Preview - The Kuparisaari Triathlon is gearing up for the 2nd annual half-iron distance race, to be held on August 14th, 2011. Pronounced KOO-pah-dee SAAH-ree, or for simplicity,

overall 1-2 finishers were Minnesota natives and endurance gurus, Karl Walczak (4:19:42) and Erik Hemstad (4:19:55), both formerly of Brooklyn Park. Indeed, the race was that close, with Hemstad taking the lead early on the bike only to get overtaken by former Michigan Tech Nordic teammate Walczak in the last mile of the run. The Koop was Walczak
