Female Grand Master Performance of the Year...

Thus far we have revealed our unofficial picks for Juniors, Male Masters and Male Grand Master Performances of the Year (2019). In each case, the official MMH honoree also took the unofficial POY title.

Until now.

Our selection for Female Grand Master POY was not even nominated for GMOY, though we gave serious thought to nominee Pam Stevens' record-setting performances at Timberman and Heart of the Lakes.

After scrutinizing all of the women's 55-and-above performances in our state in 2019, we came away impressed with the efforts that "pushed the needle," which is another way of saying that they came very close to "raising the bar."  Megan Webster (Square Lake Sprint), Tracy Serreyn (Maple Grove), Lisa Hines (Graniteman races), Rhiannon O'Connor (New Bri), Helen Gunther (Timberman) were some of the needle pushers.

Pam Stevens, of course, was a bar raiser....

And so was the woman who is our pick for the GM POY honoree: ROBIN TEDLUND, 61, Duluth

A highly decorated tri and duathlete, a Minnesota multisport pioneer, Robin has raced infrequently over the last decade. Her low racing volume is the reason she is not a perennial MMH nominee.

Her 2019 GM POY result we are citing is her AG-record at the Northwoods Triathlon.

An incredible effort, Tedlund placed 6th overall in a time--1:15:55--which lowered her AG record that had stood since 2014, by 21:55. Additionally, this year's swim course was long, adding 1-2 minutes to the times of even the faster participants. 

Tedlund now owns five divisional records at Northwoods.
