MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - Here are the winners of the 2019 MOST IMPROVED honors:

Women Nominees: JENNA HORNER, JENNIFER FITZHARRIS-FUNK, JESSIE MAHER, RACHEL ZILINSKAS

WINNER: RACHEL ZILINSKAS

While it was obvious that Maher demonstrated the most "actual" improvement in 2019, two of the other three nominees--Horner and Zilinskas--posted the kind of results that would land them officially on Team Minnesota, with Fitzharris-Funk coming darn close to doing so, as well. Horner won two races and excelled in sprint and OLympic races, but Zilinkas demonstrated, in the opinion of three of the five Selectors, more versatility, racing admirably at half and full IM, as well as Olympic distance. By Mike Buenting (mikebuenting.wordpress.com - posted 11/13)

Yesterday November 13th was National Signing day for high school athletes to sign national letters of intent to attend a college and compete in sport. What is unique about Bella is that she was the only athlete listed under the sport of Triathlon and too be honest I don’t know of any other athletes in Minnesota (well actually maybe one 2 years ago as I think Taylor went off for NCAA Triathlon) So in the state of Minnesota it’s rare to see an athlete sign for the sport of Triathlon! I mean Triathlon is not even a high school sport here in Minnesota, but I would love to change that! ...

Female MOY Nominees: KORTNEY HAAG, DIANE HANKEE, CATHY YNDESTAD, BECKY YOUNGBERG

WINNER:  BECKY YOUNGBERG

Without question, 2019 produced the most talented assemblage of female MOY nominees ever.  Hankee won four races and claimed three other regional podiums. Haag won two of the four races she entered and placed 2nd in the other two. Yndestad set three course records and one of her efforts is a POY finalist.

Youngberg, however, had nine outstanding triathlon performances in 2019, including  three outright victories, two course records and two national titles. All five Selectors favored Youngberg as MOY.

Like CY, Becky is a TOY finalist...
